Next Steps – How Do You Make New Friends?

ANCOR strongly encourages members to begin building bridges with their new members of Congress through:

  • Congratulatory social media, to begin building recognition of your organization.
  • Requests for introductory meetings and/or site visits once district offices have been established – ANCOR will share updated Congressional contact lists as soon as they are available.
  • Introductory emails to Washington, DC staff once DC offices have been established – as with the above item, ANCOR will share relevant lists once those positions are filled.
  • Fundraising. If you have ties to any of the incoming members of Congress, believe they will be strong I/DD champions, and wish to deepen their relationship with the provider community… Please flag them for consideration by the ANCOR Disability Champions Political Action Committee (ANCOR DC PAC). Let us know why you think they should receive funding, and please consider giving us permission to tell you more about our PAC activities – we need you to say yes to our emails before we can share information with you.

Doris Parfaite-Claude, Federal Advocacy and Research Manager, can assist you with getting started on your advocacy and relationship building. She can also answer questions about ANCOR DC PAC. Please email her at [email protected]. And stay tuned for more resources as we will be updating our Digital Advocacy Page in the new year!
