President Signs ANCOR-Supported Bill for Family-to-Family Health Information Centers, MFP

As part of H.R. 3253, which the President signed into law last week, Congress allocated a five-year funding extension for Family-to-Family Health Information Centers. These centers are staffed by highly-skilled, knowledgeable family members who have first-hand experience and understanding of the challenges faced by families of children and youth with special health care needs. ANCOR supported and advocated for H.R. 3253 because it supported many programs relevant to the disability community, not the least of which is the Money Follows the Person (MFP) program. H.R. 3253 extended the MFP program until the end of the year to give Congress more time to negotiate a longer-term renewal. MFP helps people with disabilities voluntarily move out of state-run institutions into the community. ANCOR will keep members informed of future opportunities for action on MFP.
