On September 26, the RAISE Family Caregivers Act (S.1028) passed the Senate unanimously. As a reminder, the bill would establish a national, coordinated strategy to support family caregivers, including a strategy for training and other such supports. The Senate leads for this legislation were Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Tammy Baldwin (D-WA) – read their press release here.

The RAISE Family Caregivers Act is now in the House (HR.3759), where it has 17 co-sponsors. It now needs to get voted out of the Education and Workforce Committee and then be voted on by the entire House before it can go to the President’s desk. ANCOR has been one of the major national organizations supporting this bill.
