The Senate Returns to Capitol Hill and Resumes Work on the Build Back Better Act

The Build Back Better Act—which contains nearly $150 billion in funding for the Medicaid Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) program, as well as provisions that support additional ANCOR legislative priorities—currently remains in limbo in the U.S. Senate. Although the bill has passed in the U.S. House and was steadily working its way through Senate committees ahead of a Senate floor vote, a declaration by Senator Joe Manchin on December 19, 2021 that he would not support the legislation in its current form ended ongoing negotiations over the bill.

However, the Build Back Better Act is not dead. The Senate is returning from its holiday recess this week and is committed to continuing the work it began on moving pieces of the Build Back Better Act forward. ANCOR  remains confident and is committed to advocating for passage of the Build Back Better Act.

For more, read ANCOR’s statement on the Build Back Better Act, and watch for updates as we continue to monitor the bill’s progress in the Senate.
