ANCOR is sharing this article by Politico Pro because it is important our members stay informed on the staffing of positions in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that are key to the administration of the Medicaid program.

As shared by Politico Pro:

“Tim Hill, the top career official at the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services, is leaving the agency at the end of the month, two officials told POLITICO.

Hill, who has been at CMS for nearly three decades, served as acting Medicaid director for much of 2018 before Mary Mayhew was tapped by the Trump administration to briefly oversee the center. In his current role, Hill helped steer oversight and implementation of Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program.

Hill directed questions to the CMS press office, which did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Hill is one of four people to serve as the nation’s Medicaid director since January 2018. The role is currently being filled by Christopher Traylor, a Trump appointee, after fellow appointees Brian Neale and Mayhew departed the agency.

Hill also is the second senior career official to depart the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services this month. Deidre Gifford, the center’s deputy director, was detailed to work with the CMS innovation center “to support the development of innovative payment models across CMS programs,” CMS Administrator Seema Verma said in an email to staff last week.”
