Social Security Administration Releases New Online Application for SSI Benefits

The Social Security Administration (SSA) released a new online tool for requesting an appointment to apply for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits. After the request is submitted, the SSA will notify applicants of an appointment date within seven to 14 business days. However, if the applicant notes they have a priority life circumstance, such as homelessness, terminal illness, or recent release from incarceration, they may receive a phone call from SSA within three business days to apply for SSI benefits then or to schedule an appointment.
