SSA Modifies its Policy on COVID-19 Financial Assistance

In a reversal this month, the Social Security Administration (SSA) has modified its policy extending the timeframe for individuals to receive stimulus checks without impact to their benefits.

SSA previously indicated that COVID-19 stimulus funding would be excluded from individuals’ eligibility and asset limits for a 12-month period. This policy has been modified to extend without an end date. The agency is now reviewing social security claims and records to restore payments for affected individuals.

For more information, see SSA’s FAQ outlining the change and next steps for impacted beneficiaries.
