ANCOR is sharing the items from Politico Pro because it is important for our members to stay informed of key health policy staffers in the Administration, particularly the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). HHS oversees MEdicaid, which is the main funding program for disability supports.

As written by Politico Pro:

“HHS Secretary Alex Azar’s chief of staff is stepping down this month, the department announced this morning.

Peter Urbanowicz had served as Azar’s top aide since January 2018, when Azar was confirmed as HHS secretary. He will be replaced by his deputy, Brian Harrison, who has held that position since Azar’s confirmation.

A former hospital executive, Urbanowicz worked alongside Azar at HHS during the George W. Bush administration. As chief of staff under Azar he managed day-to-day work on the department’s regulatory priorities.

‘Peter has been a key leader in HHS’s success over the past year and a half, and has played a vital role in our work to lower prescription drug prices, advance value-based care, and improve rural healthcare access,’ Azar said in a news release.

Urbanowicz plans to return to his home in Texas, Azar said.”
