Survey Finds Greater Support for Public Health Spending – Including Disability

“Most voters willing to pay more for basic public health protections. That’s according to a new poll from the deBeaumont Foundation, which surveyed 1,000 registered voters on how they view their local health departments.

Respondents overwhelming said that state governments — and local health officials — should be responsible for stopping the spread of flu and other diseases; protecting the elderly, disabled and other residents at risk of poor health [emphasis added by ANCOR]; and safeguarding the air and water quality, among other priorities.

Fifty-seven percent of respondents said that they would be willing to pay more in taxes to ensure these protections.”
