Take Action: Speak Up for Disability Representation in Government

As a member of the U.S. International Council on Disabilities (USICD), ANCOR is sharing this action alert because it is important to ensure disability voices are represented in government.

“In 2017, then US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson eliminated the Special Advisor for International Disability Rights, a position established under the Obama Administration and held by long-time disability activist, Judith Heumann. 

USICD is asking the US disability community and our allies to respond by communicating your support for HR 3373 to the House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs and the House Disability Caucus. The Bill establishes a permanent Office of International Disability Rights at the US Department of State and would require the appointment of a Special Advisor.”
