As shared by Politico Pro:

ONC officials are consulting with White House officials and members of Congress to help structure the evolving privacy landscape for the handling of patient data by apps, agency chief Don Rucker said Wednesday. Among the discussions: how the data might be shared for clinical research, and how to craft consent agreements that clearly communicate risks, POLITICO’s Mohana Ravindranath reports.

ONC and CMS are finalizing two rules designed to make it easier for patients to download their own records — primarily from health care providers and insurers — through apps they choose. The agencies are wading through 2,000 comments on their rules and may issue the final versions in November.”
