Position Summary

ADDCP is a statewide membership organization representing New Mexico provider agencies that serve individuals with IDD. Our members deliver Early Intervention Services, Comprehensive DD Waiver services, Self Directed Waiver services, Case Management services, and State General Fund services.

ADDCP is the leading advocacy agency at the legislature helping to shape public policy and give our member agencies a unified voice. The Executive Director serves as ADDCP’s public spokesperson and primary advocate.

The Executive Director will participate in the 30 and 60 day Legislative Sessions and establish and maintain relationships with legislators and staff. The Executive Director will provide public comment to interim committees and secure legislative sponsors for necessary legislation to support services and providers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Political Science Human
  • Services or a related field from an accredited university;
  • Minimum of 5 years of administrative/management experience in intellectual and developmental disabilities;
  • Extensive knowledge/experience in legislative process and proven lobbying skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated leadership, pubic relations and organizational skills;

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in applicable field – see above
  • Experience in non-profit management;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, internet research and database applications

Roles & Responsibilities

  • The Executive Director will lead the organization, serve as the public spokesperson and advance the interests of the membership at the legislature and across state government.
  • Reporting to the Board President and Executive Committee the Executive Director will direct the day to day operations, manage the organization budget, and build strong relationships with legislators, state agencies, advocacy groups, and member organizations.
  • Represent ADDCP with multiple state departments, committees, task forces and organizations.
  • Provide testimony during legislative sessions on appropriate legislation.
