Position Summary

OVERVIEW OF POSITION: The Senior Director of Community Living Services is responsible for the support and oversight of all aspects of Ardmore’s Community Living services, including residential (group homes and respite), supported living, and personal support for people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). This position requires strong leadership, mentoring and coaching skills that promote collaboration and the strategic direction of all services in support of the Ardmore mission, vision, and values.

Leadership includes building successful collaborative relationships for operating, problem solving and strategic thinking across all service areas and teams.  Mentoring includes showing and helping Directors and their staff to learn and grow in their competencies to ensure that the people for whom we work are receiving quality supports and services that promote personal outcomes and the lives they choose to live. Coaching includes hands-on observations, reflections, and the ability to help the Director and Managers gain and grow in their skills toward day-to-day operations, collaborative communication and relationship building and creative problem solving while heading toward the strategic future of person-centered service delivery across all of Ardmore and its services.

The Senior Director of Community Living Services will work closely with the Senior Director of Meaningful Day and Employment and Associate Executive Director to oversee the operations of all direct Community Living services. The Senior Director of Community Living Services supervises a team, to include the Director of Residential Services, Managers, and their staff toward skill building and competencies in leading and working toward a continuum and seamless delivery of person-centered services that align with Ardmore’s strategic journey.  This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and serves as a member of the Sr. Leadership Team.

SALARY RANGE: $110K – $120K

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five (5) years of experience working with adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities, and four (5) years of leadership experience.
  • Master’s Degree in Human Services, Social Work, or Psychology, or Education Graduate degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and coach other leaders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and willingness to learn new applications.
  •  Should have experience working with Microsoft Office Suite and other internal and external databases, experience with information management database systems a plus.

Roles & Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Work closely with the Senior Director of Meaningful Day and Employment and Associate Executive Director toward seamless and unified delivery of services and functions across Ardmore in alignment with the strategic direction.
  • Develop and optimally maintain service delivery budgets.
  • Oversee, support and coach the Residential Director, Managers of Community Living and Manager of Supported Living and Personal Supports in the development and implementation of their specific budget areas.
  • Build collaborative communication teams to develop partnerships across all service delivery areas of Ardmore that promote learning from each other, knowledge, and support of all services jointly, and strategic growth.
  • Maintain and improve positive public images for Ardmore in the community and work with or participate in advisory groups, coalitions, and committees as needed.
  • Facilitate and lead service Director of Residential Services and Managers of Community Living, Personal Supports and Supported Living, toward a culture of community-based, person-centered support in all services that identifies the person receiving support as the center of control and decision making about the lives they want to live.
  • Directly support Director of Residential Services and Managers of Community Living, Personal Supports and Supported Living in their operations and provide opportunities for ongoing knowledge and skill development that promotes staff’s increased competencies and abilities to provide excellent services in person-centered service delivery.
  • Support the development and growth of the Supported Living and Shared Housing services to empower the people for which we work to develop greater independence in their communities.
  • Serve as a liaison between Ardmore and the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) to promote and ensure seamless communication and service delivery.
  • Support Ardmore Senior Leadership and other activities as assigned.

Mentoring

  • Model and support a personal outcomes approach that includes learning about one person at a time, identifying with them how they define their best life, and creating the supports needs to help achieve the outcomes that will facilitate their best life.
  • Support the growth of leadership competencies that strengthen Ardmore’s commitment to deliver quality and most promising person-centered services to people with IDD.
  • Support Director of Community Living and Managers of Community Living, Personal Supports and Supported Living in developing their staff partnerships, skill development providing person-centered services that are value based and fiscally sound.

 Coaching

Engage in conversations that encourage Director, Managers, and their staff to self-reflect, self-empower, think critically and creatively, and set and accomplish professional goals that support Ardmore’s strategic direction in person centered service delivery.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Initiative to gain and maintain knowledge of state-funded services, public benefits, and regulations germane to the field.
  • Ability to facilitate and coordinate meetings that meet compliance requirements and build constructive relationships.
  • Strong ability to think creatively and develop strong internal and external relationships is required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with proficiency in technology and aptitude to learn and use multiple electronic platforms for documentation.
  • Must have excellent time management and customer service skills.
  • Must have strong computer and technological skills to operate.
  • Cultivate and maintain a strong and positive team culture.
  • Ability to think and plan strategically.
