In loving memory, February 12, 1949-September 21, 2019

Daniel J. Keating III, Ph.D.It is with very heavy hearts we announce that Daniel J. “Dan” Keating III, Ph.D., passed peacefully at his residence in Exton, Pennsylvania. Dan was Executive Director of ABCD (Alliance for the Betterment of Citizens with Disabilities), an ANCOR member state association in New Jersey.

Dan was actively involved with ANCOR for many years. It was rare that he would miss an ANCOR Conference, Government Relations Summit or State Association Executives Retreat. Dan was certainly a favorite among ANCOR staff and members of the ANCOR State Association Executives Forum.

Dan had more than 30 years of professional experience in working with people with disabilities. Prior to joining ABCD, he was employed at Bancroft, where he was responsible for Family Services and Government Relations. He received his doctorate degree from Temple University and held appointments as adjunct faculty member in the Department of Psychology at Drexel University and the Department of Human Services at Camden County College. He was a founding member of the Academy for the Certification of Brain Injury Specialists and a certified brain injury specialist trainer.

Dan is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathy, as well as his daughter, Karen Johnson (Michael) and son, Philip (Suzanne). He was also a loving grandfather of seven and had nine siblings.

Dan was a U. S. Army veteran who served from 1972-1977. He will be interred with military honors at Ft. Indiantown Gap Cemetery near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Donations in Dan’s memory can be made to the Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania. If you would like to send a card or note to Dan’s wife, Kathy, please contact Jerri McCandless at [email protected] for her address.
