Brookings Offers Event on Promoting Social Determinants of Health

ANCOR is sharing this announcement by the Brookings Institution because of the interest by health policy-makers in exploring new models and departing from traditional fee-for-service. As a timely example, note that one of our stories on CMS this week discusses Medicaid pilot programs that use a blended funding approach.

As shared by the Brookings Institution:

Braiding and blending funds to promote social determinants of health

Wednesday, May 1, 2019, 9:00 — 11:30 a.m. EDT

The Brookings Institution, Falk Auditorium,
1775 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W. Washington, D.C. 20036

The Brookings Institution’s Braiding and Blending Working Group will host an event on how to establish more flexible funding strategies to improve community health and economic mobility. The event will begin with an introduction to the topic of “braiding and blending” funds from different sources and the challenges of achieving such flexible funding. A panel will then deepen the conversation by providing examples and lessons from governments and organizations in the field. A second panel discussion will assess policy steps that could be taken to facilitate a better environment for addressing the challenges and opportunities associated with braiding and blending funds.

This public event is part of an ongoing project at Brookings focusing on encouraging cross-sector collaboration to improve community health and economic mobility. As part of this project, the Working Group recently collaborated with the Urban Institute’s Pay for Success Initiative (PFSI) to release a blog series on Uniting funding streams for health and social innovation. This event will be webcast live. Join the conversation on Twitter using #SDOHfunding.
