The U.S. House Committee on Education & Labor recently released its recommendations on the budget resolution, and its recommendations include grant programs to support competitive integrated employment and the direct care workforce.

The Committee also issued budgetary language which included funding recommendations for grant programs to support transition to competitive integrated employment and support the direct care and family caregiver workforce.

  • Part 3: The Competitive Integrated Employment Transformation Grant Program is recommended to receive $300 million for fiscal year 2022 to award to states to assist employers who were issued 14(c) certificates in transforming their business and program models to employ and support people with disabilities in competitive integrated employment.
  • Part 4: Recruitment, Education and Training, Retention, and Career Advancements for the Direct Care Workforce is recommended to receive $1.48 billion to remain available until September 30, 2031, for awarding grants to eligible entities to provide competitive wages, benefits, and other supportive services to direct care workers while also developing and implementing strategies for recruitment, retention, and education and training. Eligible entities receiving a grant must use the funds to supplement and not supplant any other funding available.

ANCOR will continue to follow these program and grant recommendations for additional update. For more information, please refer to the full text
