It’s with heavy hearts that we share the news that Tim Sullivan, long-time ANCOR member, recently passed away. Until his retirement in 2015, Tim worked for over 30 years as the New Hampshire State Director for Aspire Living & Learning (formerly known as The Institute of Professional Practice, or IPPI).

Tim was an active member of ANCOR, serving for multiple terms on the ANCOR Board of Representatives. He was also active on the ANCOR Government Relations Committee. He played a pivotal role in establishing tax-exempt status for shared living providers. He also was integral in ANCOR’s efforts on the wage and hour front to clarify the status and appropriate compensation for overnight staff. Tim was named an ANCOR Foundation Legacy Leader in 2018, a well-deserved award for his lifetime of service and advocacy.

Tim’s colleagues have noted that in the 1980s, he played an integral part in bringing many individuals with significant behavioral challenges out of institutions and into community living opportunities with IPPI. New Hampshire became the first state in the nation to close its institutions. Tim inspired many over the years with his compassion, charisma and witty sense of humor. He will certainly be missed.

Tim passed away at his home in Biddeford, Maine. If you would like to send your condolences to Tim’s family, please contact Jerri McCandless at [email protected].
