DSP Recognition

Navigators. Connectors. Beacons of hope. Our direct support professionals do it all, and they deserve to be celebrated.

About This Priority

The value direct support professionals (DSPs) bring to our communities cannot be overstated. As personal care professionals, DSPs assist the people they support with the most intimate activities of daily living. As community coaches, DSPs help the people they support open doors to employment and a sense of community. And as relationship navigators, DSPs are often the bridge between the people they support and their friends, family members and significant others.

For these and 1,001 other reasons, DSPs deserve to be recognized, appreciated and celebrated for their efforts. That’s why ANCOR commits to amplifying celebrations of DSPs across the country. This commitment includes, but is not limited to, our Direct Support Professional of the Year Awards, an annual celebration of more than 50 of the nation’s most outstanding DSPs.

Recognition Goes Further Than You Think

Being a direct support professional (DSP) can be hard work—mentally, physically, and emotionally. It’s important to recognize and support your DSPs throughout their tenure at your organization, especially if you want to retain them long-term.
