Are you looking for ways to encourage more diverse hiring in your local government agencies? Consider implementing the Partnership for Inclusive Internships (PII) program model. This internship program for people with disabilities has effectively catalyzed a culture shift in hiring practices within New York government agencies. Through partnerships, the PII Program provides work experience and a path for qualified candidates with disabilities into government employment.
This cost-effective program benefits all parties involved. Interns gain valuable work experience and are often considered for subsequent employment. Disability service providers can open up an employment sector that is often difficult to penetrate. Government agencies get much-needed help and have the opportunity to strengthen their diversity commitment by gaining access to a wide range of talented and motivated candidates. Plus, there is no cost to the employer to use this program, and interns are paid through the state vocational rehabilitation agency.
Join us to learn tips for replicating the PII Program with state and local government agencies.
