1:00pm-2:00pm EST

Trauma is unfortunately a common occurrence in the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. The statistics surrounding sexual abuse, bullying, and neglect are staggering. The next step is to focus on healing and post-traumatic recovery. To begin the healing process, individuals must feel safe, connected to others, and empowered to have their voices heard.

Furthermore, having a strong sense of self or identity is crucial for those receiving support. This sense of identity can be defined on three levels: identity in relation to self and self-awareness, identity in relation to social relationships, and identity in relation to community. A sense of self, meaningful connections, and a sense of belonging in a real community are all key to true healing and post-traumatic growth.

We will be sharing case studies that showcase these important factors in post-traumatic recovery. Let’s work together to create a world where everyone can feel safe, supported, and empowered to heal.

An on-demand recording of the webinar will be emailed to all registrants.
