ANCOR Advocates for Disability Inclusion in FEMA’s Disaster Recovery Framework

ANCOR recently submitted comments on FEMA’s draft National Disaster Recovery Framework (NDRF), which outlines the federal government’s role in disaster recovery planning and response. ANCOR’s comments focus on two key priorities: ensuring disability service providers are recognized as vital community resources in disaster preparedness and recovery and advocating for state and local disaster officials to be properly trained on disability-related needs and issues.

By participating in FEMA’s NDRF review, ANCOR emphasizes the need for inclusive, community-driven recovery planning that considers the unique needs of people with disabilities. The NDRF serves as a federal blueprint for collaboration with state, local, Tribal, and territorial governments and informs a wide range of disaster recovery strategies that promote equitable, resilient outcomes across the nation.
