President Biden Declares November 2024 as National Family Caregivers Month

In recognition of the vital role family caregivers play in supporting loved ones across the United States, President Joe Biden has issued a proclamation designating November 2024 as National Family Caregivers Month. This month-long observance aims to honor the work of the estimated 50 million unpaid family caregivers who dedicate their time, resources, and energy to provide care for family members in need. 

President Biden’s proclamation acknowledges the financial and emotional strain faced by caregivers, many of whom juggle responsibilities for both aging parents and young children.  

The Biden administration has implemented several policies to ease the burdens on caregivers. The American Rescue Plan allocated $145 million to the National Family Caregiver Support Program, providing training, counseling, and short-term relief to family caregivers. Additionally, the first-ever National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers was introduced to offer new programs tailored to caregivers’ needs and to expand access to affordable childcare and home-based care services according to the proclamation.
