ANCOR Supports Introduction of Bipartisan Bill to Help SSDI Beneficiaries

On February 10, Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), joined Representative Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) and Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) to introduce the Stop the Wait Act (H.R. 883 and S. 320). The Stop the Wait Act would phase out the five-month waiting period for people who are eligible to receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits. The bill would also end the waiting period to begin receiving health insurance through Medicare.

ANCOR endorses the legislation, which would allow people with disabilities to begin receiving benefits immediately, rather than waiting five months after the onset of their disability.
