Big Picture: Statistics on Internet Access by Age, Disability Status and Race

Disparities in different communities’ access to the internet have become front of mind for the nation because of the pandemic shifting many facets of life to virtual settings, and because of President Biden’s jobs and infrastructure proposal which includes provisions to improve broadband infrastructure. Because ANCOR members have shared that they are advocating to strengthen broadband access among members of the disability community, we share these slides from Brandeis University’s Community Living Policy Center to inform their advocacy.

The slides show that people with disabilities have lower internet access rates than their peers without disabilities. The slides also break down internet access by age and race, finding that Native American and Black communities have the least access to the internet.
