On Thursday, an audience of 340 joined us online for a congressional briefing during which we explained the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Medicaid disability supports, as informed by our members’ experiences and our survey of nearly 700 providers. Those of you who could not join us for the live broadcast can still hear our panelists share their passionate and poignant experiences, as the recording and slides from the briefing are now available on ANCOR’s COVID-19 Resource Center.

Panelists were:

  • Donna Martin from ANCOR, who summarized the findings of our recent fiscal impact study.
  • Chris Sparks from Waterloo, Iowa-based Exceptional Persons, Inc., who shared the challenges he faces as a provider in Iowa.
  • Chris Mitchell from Long Island-based FREE, who shared his experience as Direct Support Professional who supported an individual in quarantine in New York.
  • Jolene Bowers from Mosaic in Colorado Springs, who gave examples of life during the pandemic as a host home provider in Colorado.

Participants also heard from Shannon McCracken, head of ANCOR’s Government Relations team, on next steps related to advocacy. To that end, please take a minute to use our action tools to speak up on the important issues discussed during the briefing!
