The Senate Finance Committee held a hearing to discuss the President’s Fiscal Year 2024 budget proposal. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra was present as a witness, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to supporting Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS).

During the hearing, Secretary Becerra stressed the importance of investing in wellness care, including long-term care, to allow older American adults and those with disabilities to thrive in their homes and communities. He stated in his testimony to the committee: “The FY 2024 budget makes essential investments to strengthen our nation’s long-term care system and invests $150 billion over 10 years to improve Medicaid HCBS, to ensure that more people who are aging and those with disabilities can receive care in their home or community and to strengthen the home care workforce.”
