Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) continue their private negotiations on a budget reconciliation package. Although there is no deal yet, the two are closer than they’ve ever been, according to multiple sources familiar with the negotiations. Manchin has publicly stated throughout the process that he wants a package that would ease inflation, raise corporate taxes, lower prescription drug prices and address climate change. Reports about the reconciliation negotiations continue to identify HCBS funding as a provision that could be included, indicating that there is still promising opportunity for the funding to become law.
