New Congressional Membership in the 119th Congress

As the 119th Congress gets underway, updates to key committees and leadership priorities are coming into focus. New members have joined two influential House committees, while Senate Finance Committee Chair Mike Crapo (R-ID) has released his agenda for the new Congress.

House Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Frank Pallone (D-NJ) announced seven new Democratic members: Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Jake Auchincloss (D-MA), Troy Carter (D-LA), Rob Menendez (D-NJ), Kevin Mullin (D-CA), Greg Landsman (D-OH), and Jennifer McClellan (D-VA).
Meanwhile, House Education and the Workforce Chairman Tim Walberg (R-MI) welcomed five new Republican members: Reps. Bob Onder (R-MO), Ryan Mackenzie (R-PA), Michael Baumgartner (R-WA), Mark Harris (R-NC), and Mark Messmer (R-IN).

Senator Mike Crapo (R-ID), the new chair of the Senate Finance Committee, has highlighted his commitment to shore up Social Security, including for individuals with disabilities. He emphasized the need to improve customer service and ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security Administration (SSA), which provides essential benefits to millions of Americans, including those with disabilities and their families.
