Public Health Emergency Declaration Likely to Be Extended

This week, there was no announcement from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) indicating that the public health emergency (PHE) declaration would end within the next 60 days. HHS has maintained a commitment to provide a 60-day advance notice prior to the end of the PHE, so the failure to provide notice this week signals that there will likely be another 90-day extension in mid-January 2023. It is anticipated that this may be the final extension of the PHE.
