Trump Administration May Seek to Pull Back Budget Deal

Although Congress passed and President Trump signed a budget deal in late March funding the remainder of FY 2018 for a 1.3 trillion dollar pricetag, there are several media reports that the White House will seek a $30-60 billion dollar cutback on that bill through a process called rescission. It is expected that the White House will present its rescission package, with ideas of where to make these fiscal cuts, to Congress by May 1. Congress will then have 45 days to pass a rescission bill by simple majorities in both Houses.
