Angela King, Volunteers of America Texas, to Retire at Year End

ANCOR member Volunteers of America Texas announced recently that Angela King will retire from her role as President & CEO on December 31, 2025. King, also a former President of ANCOR’s Board of Directors, heads to a well-earned retirement after 39 years of service in the disability space.

King’s time leading the organization saw her move measures forward to empower disabled Texans and their families to overcome obstacles to reach their full potential, and thrive. She did so by leading a drive to raise wages for direct support professionals, expanding the footprint of the organization across Texas, and pushing for and securing access to affordable housing, substance use treatment, re-entry programs, and disability services.

In the press release announcing her retirement, King said, “It has been the honor of my lifetime to lead this ministry of service. Every day, I’ve witnessed the transformative power of faith, compassion and community. I am incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished—and deeply hopeful for what comes next.”

While Angela’s advocacy and steady leadership will be missed, ANCOR deeply appreciates her work and service over the years and wishes her nothing but the best in retirement!

Volunteers of America Minnesota & Wisconsin Names Karina Forrest Perkins as Next President & CEO

Following the news of longtime ANCOR leader Julie Manworren’s upcoming retirement at the end of the month, Volunteers of America Minnesota & Wisconsin has named Karina Forrest Perkins as the agency’s next President & CEO. Forrest Perkins was selected after a national search to fill some pretty big shoes at the organization.

Volunteers of America Minnesota & Wisconsin shared that Forrest Perkins was unanimously selected due to her visionary leadership, deep expertise and unwavering commitment to human-centered care. In the announcement of her hiring, Perkins shared, “It is both a privilege and a calling to join Volunteers of America Minnesota & Wisconsin. I have long believed that compassion, purpose, and community are the foundations of meaningful change.”

ANCOR wishes Julie Manworren all the best in her retirement and looks forward to welcoming Karina to her new position!
