CDC Updates COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Recommendations for Immunocompromised Individuals

On February 4, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its recommendations for additional and booster doses of COVID-19 vaccines for moderately to severely immunocompromised people, including those with immunocompromising conditions or who take immunosuppressive medications or therapies. The new guidance reduces the time between the third and fourth doses of a Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine from five months to three months. The rationale for the reduction was triggered by concern about initial immune response and loss of protection over time.
