CMS Releases Data on Medicaid Coverage and Accessibility

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released a short data brief measuring three dimensions of Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) access: access to Medicaid and CHIP coverage, access to services, and perceived access to services. The brief is part of the CMS initiative “Coverage and Access”—one of the three domains of its proactive policy agenda for 2022-2024. The brief reported that 20% of beneficiaries reported sometimes or never being able to access necessary care and information in a timely and customer-oriented way.
