On Tuesday, a letter was sent from the Disability and Aging Collaborative to the U.S. Senate urging Senators to invest in the Medicaid Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) program as part of the budget reconciliation legislative package. ANCOR joined the letter along with over 200 advocacy organizations representing seniors, people with disabilities, family caregivers, direct care workers, and other allies. The letter highlighted not only the need for the additional HCBS funding as a means of stabilizing the direct care workforce and increasing access to services, but also as a cost-saving measure for states.
