Biden Releases Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Blueprint

In a move welcomed by the disability community, President Biden released his fiscal year 2024 budget this week, which includes a recommended $150 billion over 10 years to improve and expand home and community-based services. This significant investment represents a substantial win for providers and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) who rely on these services to live independently in their communities.

However, this is just the first step in the process, and there is still significant work to be done. Congressional appropriators will now begin drafting legislation, and ANCOR will work closely with stakeholders to ensure that the funding is allocated in a way that maximizes its impact and benefits individuals with disabilities across the country.

Unfortunately, the House of Representatives is not expected to reveal any plans for several weeks, which may include efforts to reduce national spending. As a result, it is more important than ever for the disability community to come together and advocate for their needs.

ANCOR encourages individuals with disabilities, their families, and our members to make their voices heard through our Action Tool and ensure that policymakers understand the critical role that home and community-based services play in the lives of people with I/DD. ANCOR will continue to push for increased funding and sensible policies.

ANCOR is committed to advocating for the rights and needs of individuals with disabilities, and will continue to keep the community informed of any new developments as they arise.
