On June 24, ANCOR joined several coalition partners in working with Senator Bob Casey’s (D-PA) office to hold a virtual round table on the importance of funding for the Medicaid Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) program. Senator Casey’s office has been working with the coalition to organize this round table for several weeks. ANCOR member Unlimited PossAbilities from West Virginia was included as a participant of the round table.

The round table focused on the cost savings of investing in the Medicaid HCBS program for individuals, families, and the federal and state governments that provide the supports. The round table also highlighted ways the American Rescue Plan Act funding provided critical services, raised wages, and strengthened the HCBS system.

Brett Ballengee from Unlimited PossAbilities joined Gene Sperling, the White House American Rescue Plan Coordinator, and Ai-jen Poo, Executive Director of Caring Across Generations and President of the National Domestic Workers Alliance. Other members of the round table included: Joe Caldwell, Director of the Community Living Policy Center, Principal Investigator; Marti Smith, LGBT Elder and Recipient of HCBS; Susan Koller, Disability Advocate, HCBS recipient from Ohio; and Francis Adams, United Home Care Workers of Pennsylvania.
