Labor Department Launches New Tool to Help Employers and Employees with Workplace Accommodations

The U.S. Department of Labor has introduced the “Situations and Solutions Finder,” a new tool aimed at aiding employers and employees with disabilities in understanding a variety of workplace accommodations. The tool, launched during National Disability Employment Awareness Month, offers over 700 real-world accommodation examples from various industries and businesses of all sizes. By filtering based on disability, limitation, or occupation, users can explore a range of accommodations to promote inclusivity in the workplace.

The Situations and Solutions Finder, which draws on feedback from the Job Accommodation Network (JAN), demonstrates how low-cost accommodations can positively impact the workplace. Though the examples are not comprehensive or one-size-fits-all, the tool offers practical ideas and is a valuable resource for employers seeking to improve accessibility and for employees exploring their options under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
